I think Locke felt he was doing the bidding of the island, by killing
Naomi.

I addressed this in another thread.   ...Just because the island shots
and the flash forwards are close together, it doesn't necessarily mean
that's how the series will progress.  It could be days or weeks before
the Oceanic 6 are taken off the island.  A lot could happen during that
time.  ...Jon
