Time moves faster for the conspirators, but not because of any foolery
with physics. No, it's just that some of the flashback scenes were
either totally imaginary or acted out with different players than the
adults, just as "Lost" itself is. So when we see what we think are
Sawyer, Hugo, Jack, and Benry as children (not sure about Sun's kiddie
FB), those aren't the same characters as we think. Either they're
just lies the characters are prepared to tell about their childhood,
or they were scenes acted out by child actors (or in Sawyer's case,
himself as an adult) to produce Sayid's "You would remember!" effect
in their co-conspirators (such as their supposed parents). The
conspiracy was years in the making, but not THAT many years.
This is why, for instance, the Nestor Carbonell character, Richard
Alpert, didn't seem to age much.
