I don't think we are supposed to care about them, We are supposed to 
question the real nature of their mission.

It adds to the questions. Why would you wear a bullet proof vest on a 
rescue mission? What were these people expecting to encounter on the
island?

Whoever put the team together wanted someone who could communicate with 
Jacob? So Dharma knows that the electromagnetic anomoly isn't the only 
thing unusual about the island. So they sent someone in who can replace
Ben?

We know that the new team isn't there primarily to rescue the losties. 
We know they are looking for Ben. But there appears to be more to it 
than that. And we aren't being told. So there are more questions than 
answers. Isn't that what keeps us watching?

Another question. If Dharma was able to set up research stations on the 
island, why have they been having so much trouble finding the island 
since the purge? Does this mean that the new team isn't Dharma?
