It's funny that you bring this up, because when I watched "The
Beginning of the End" for the second time, there was a moment when
Hurley held the basketball a certain way that reminded me of that
poster:

The first thing that came to mind for me when I saw "Wonder Star" was
"Star of Wonder," the Star of Bethlehem. The three stars of Orion's
Belt are sometimes referred to as the Three Kings, and if you follow
their line, they lead to Sirius, brightest star in the night sky.
Sirius is also the star of Stella Maris, Star of the Sea, one of the
names for the Virgin Mary. Statues of the Virgin Mary were key plot
points on the show, and there was another one in the Find 815 ARG, on
the Christiane I. When Hurley won the lottery, I think there were
also quite a few Virgin Mary statues or pictures in his apartment.
More recently, we discussed HD101065, also known as Przybylski's Star,
or the Holmium Star. If the H-O clues in "The Beginning of the End"
were pointing to Holmium, then this star becomes a good candidate for
the Wonder Star.
