Lost is based on a real event

wait until or fast forward to 1:28 into the vid, it will explain that on 
July 9th, 1962 during a nuclear test that knocked out electricity to 
parts of the Hawaiian Island of Oahu (The island in LOST) and Maui.

If you go to this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTaYkokZYGg)
it 
will say that between 1962 and 1964, Operation Dominic (nuclear tests).

      So, this whole lost thing might be based on a real event.
