Time Displacement / Slow Buffer / Other theories of why the missile didn't get there on time

by thelostguy@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Feb 15, 2008 at 07:11 AM

Assumption: The clock contained on the missile was originally synchronised
with Dan's clock [otherwise someone is playing a nasty trick on poor Dan].

Technically, we do not know *when* the clocks were synchronized -- it is
not
necessarily when the rocket was launched, but more likely they were synced

when Dan left the Island. Thus we cannot compute the amount of time
difference.

Theory #1: The freighter is further from the Island than they think it is.

False - distance does not account for the clocks getting out of sync.

Theory #2: The slow buffer [s0183616]: there is a barrier outside the
Island
that causes time to slow down while objects pass through the slow buffer,
before resuming regular time at the Island. Radio waves are not affected
by
the slow buffer, hence the phone can still communicate.

False - Dan also passed through the "slow buffer", his clock would have

been effected in the same way as the rocket, and the clocks would be
synced.

Theory #3: Time outside the Island flows faster than time on the Island.
This
would explain why the clock on the rocket is off. It does not, however,
explain how Dan is able to communicate with the ****p in real time.

False - Responses from the ****p should be delayed.

Theory #4: Warped space [Steven L]. Space is warped causing the rocket to
take longer to reach the Island. Radio waves are not effected by warped
space.

??? - (alas, but my physics is not good enough to know if this should
effect the clock on the rocket)

Theory #5: Craphole Island is not on Earth. Objects from Earth to Craphole

are being boosted to light speed to make the transition and are
experiencing
some kind of relativity effect. Naomi's phone uses some alternative means
(i.e. it isn't radio)

False? - producers have said craphole is on earth, right?

Well, it looks like I decided every theory is false... Does anyone have
any
alternatives?
