She wasn't just "in the background" of "Stranger in a Strange Land."
She was a guest star who acted in nearly all the flashback scenes.
Besides, you know how Lost is. There's no way to be sure that Bai Ling
won't show up again in a future episode of Lost, perhaps in a Jack
flashforward.
