Sayid was pretending it was accidental to get close to Elsa's boss and
(presumably) kill him. Elsa was going along with the 'accidental'
encounter in order to get close to Sayid and figure out who'd ordered
the hit.

Elsa wasn't trying to kill Sayid's boss. She was trying to find out who
the boss was, and was almost certainly instrumental in keeping her own
boss out of Berlin while she... erm... pumped Sayid for information.
