Ford? (John Ford directed many Westerns.) I theorized that Sawyer
represented a character from Greek mythology named Hippomenes ("Spirit
of the horse"). Who are the two people on the island who have seen
the horse? Kate and Sawyer. Who had Sawyer's baby? Cassidy
Phillips. Hopalong Cassidy was a famous movie cowboy, but here's the
kicker: Phillips means "horse-lover." (Philip K. Dick used the alias
Horselover Fat for his character in _VALIS_, because Philip means
"horselover" and Dick is German for "fat.')

According to Dogon beliefs, the first animal to appear on Earth after
