Vincent was the first and biggest clue to the Sirius connection, as he
is the first creature Jack sees upon waking up on the island. Whether
he'll turn out to be some kind of emissary, or just a symbol and clue
to the Dog Star, I don't know. But certainly he has lived up to the
name "Monitor," which is how the Dogon people refer to the Nommos.
(They're also called "Masters of the Water" and "Teachers.")
There have been lots of other hints along the way. For example, a
photo of Sirius (A & B) was shown in the psychology testing video
during The Lost Experience alternate reality game. Sirius B, which is
referred to as The Pup, is called Po by the Dogon, after their name
for the tiniest thing they know, a cereal grain from West Africa.
Sun's little dog is named Bpo-Bpo. That's B Po-B Po. The yellow dog
on the mural has a tail that seems to reach up to a picture of a
boat. The constellation Canis Major (in which Sirius is found) was
said to be pulling the constellation of the ****p Argo by the dog's
tail ("Sternforward Arg=F4 by the Great Dog's tail Is drawn"). Sirius
is known in some cultures as the Arrow Star, and we see an arrow on
the mural, starting in front of the dog and ending up in the ocean.
Another African tribe calls Sirius the Eye Star.
The ***ulative evidence is mounting, and the next episode holds yet
another piece of the puzzle: the novel _VALIS_.
