my question is why did widmore want the journal in the first place.
antique collector, naval history buff? who knows. or did he know about
he island and was hoping that the journal would lead him to it. is he
part of dharma or is he one of the "bad" people that ben has talked
about. someone who wants the island for nefarious purposes.

and whether widmore knows about it or not i think penny has seen the
journal, knows about the island and has somehow linked desmond to it.
that one i'm also curious about. how did penny link the island to
desmond?
