With the difficulty we have seen in getting onto and off of the island,
the Dharma food 'drops' keep popping up on my list of unanswered Lost
questions.
If the drops were made in the conventional manner over the dangerous Lost
isle, and since the supply drops were to be made in perpetuity according
to Hanso, this would require many pilots since the mortality rate would be
so high.
The Lost producers have hinted that just because the drops have a
parachute, doesn't mean they came from the sky. Additionally, the drop
that Kate and Jack found gave no sound of an airplane engine noise passing
overhead.
Is it possible that the food drops do not come from the sky, but from on
the island?
In what weird Lost scenario, short of some reason to make the isle
inhabitants believe the drops came from the sky, would supplies need a
parachute?
As dangerous as air travel to and from the island appears to be, there
must be another way to 'drop' supplies.

In a related question, why have humans come to the island at all?
We still don't know what global significance the island
controls/maintains/holds.
But unless everyone involved in the island secrets and mysteries is
completely insane, the island secrets must be very im****tant. And since
they are im****tant, why expose so many humans to the secret, especially
since time travel and the island sickness, seems to eventually drive the
sane arrivals crazy?
When the wreckage at the bottom of the Sundra Trench was discovered, why
weren't humans used to explore and retrieve? Yep, like the island it was
too dangerous. And what was used in place of humans to explore the Sundra
Trench? Yep......You already know the answer.....
On the island we have seen humanoid characters that we know are human, and
a few we know are ghosts. Jacob and possibly the smoke monster are other
forms of intelligent life, that don't easily fit into any known category.
Is it possible some of the life forms we think are humans are a more
hearty variety of humanoid, designed specifically to withstand the rigors
of the hostile island environment?
