Cannon fodder...The term is generally used in situations where soldiers
are forced to deliberately fight against hopeless odds ... in an effort to
achieve a strategic goal.

Recently in this forum there has been much debate over what constitutes
canon in the fictional world of Lost.
It seems as though the Lost creators have heard those complaints and
responded. The details of what is canon and what is not are outlined here
on lostpedia.

The canon discussion was clarified here, in a recent interview with Cuse
and Lindelof by Doc Jensen, with the following brief exerpt:
Jensen: So what's official (canon) and what's not? What's 'canon?'
CUSE: The mobisodes are in canon. The Orchid video is in canon. The
videogame is not in canon....Even the things like the mobisodes, which are
in canon, aren't essential to your understanding of the show. These things
are just added bonuses.
LINDELOF: The only true canon is the show itself.

So, in the 'strictest' sense of the word 'canon', only the show itself can
be truely counted on as canon. Right?
Wrong!
Not even the show itself is entirely canon.
What!, You might say, Not canon?
Yes, not even the TV show itself can be counted on as canon.
Where does canon get turned into cannon fodder?
"where soldiers are forced to deliberately fight against hopeless odds ...
in an effort to achieve a strategic goal."
The one time the Lost Executive Directors turned canon into cannon fodder
occurred exactly a year ago in March of 2007 during a BuddyTV interview.
http://www.buddytv.com/articles/lost/more/buddytv-interviews-losts-damon-4762.aspx
Here is an excerpt of that interview from March 2007:
BuddyTV: The map that was discovered in the Dharma bus, does that have any
significance in comparison to the Lockdown map or has that pretty much
served its purpose at this point?
Carlton Cuse: I think the purpose of that map was just to establish that
basically there was at one point a road that linked the Dharma stations
but with 25 years of jungle growth those roads have been overgrown. It
wasn’t really mythology canon; it was more descriptive so the audience
could understand how there was a Dharma bus out there in the middle of the
jungle.

Besides this being a 'small' piece of useless information in the Lost
mythology, and an exception to the Lost canon rule, why is this im****tant?
Surely this is insignificant, right?
I won't repeat the rant I made at the time, but the following link will
lead you to the post I made after the BuddyTV interview:

Ok, Ok, You say, you were pissed, I kinda understand why you might be, but
so what?
Glad you asked. Here is the cannon fodder that was dismissed. It is
entirely unique in the Lost Universe in that it holds the claim to being
the only piece of Lost canon that has EVER BEEN DISMISSED: The Roger
Workman Blueprint

Ok, You Say, this is all stupid, I don't see your point.
Lost, like hell is circular in nature and goes round and round. It is
metaphoric with deeper levels and meanings.
This post is like hell, it goes round and round, and starts exactly where
it begins.
Ok, You Say, this is all stupid, I don't see your point.
