Yeah, but I definitely see a point where Ben becomes the hero.  It's 
classic storytelling.

But ultimately I believe he will be evil.

Keep in mind, though, the Ben did NOT directly give the message.  I 
think it's doubtful that he was behind it.

My theory; I believe the smoke monster creates apparitions.  Yemi being 
right before the Eko attack is why I think that.  I believe the other 
woman was an apparition.  The village that Ben lives in is protected 
from the smoke monster by the fence.  This leads me to believe that Ben 
and the smoke monster are not on the same page, and if the apparition of 
the other woman is a smoke monster apparition, that would imply that the 
apparitions advice does not match what Ben would say if he was there in 
person.

Yeah, a stretch, but it's what I'm thinking for the time being.
