Like Desmond in an earlier episode, Minkowski's 2004 consciousness is
leaping around to other parts of his life (we don't know past or
future but I'd assume past because... well, he dies).
In this episode, unlike in the earlier one, it is Desmond's past self
that is jumping around in time. In the LOST podcst for The Constant,
the producers say that the effects are unpredictable (and I think Dan
says this to Desmond at Oxford too).
