How long has it been since Walt and Michael left the island? Has he had
time 
to make it back to the real world and sign up to work on the freighter? It

seems odd that someone who was rescued at sea would be put to work
swabbing 
the decks and treated like menial labor. My feeling is that Michael made
it 
"back home" and Ben tracked him down to enlist his help in the same way he

got Sayeed on board.
