I don't buy it.  Why would they target these three?  Actually, I should
say 
two...I don't think they had any intention of hitting Alex.  I think it
was 
Ben's people.  Ben hated Rousseau and Karl, and wanted them out of Alex's 
life.  Why couldn't the shooters have been the Others?

The shooter (or shooters) seemed to be very accurate.  They used silencers

apparently (though I thought that made for less accurate shots).  Why
would 
they do that anyway?  If I recall the skeet shooting scene, they were
making 
an awful lot of racket...and were not all that accurate either...using 
automatic weapons.  I most of all can't see these three being a first
target 
of a strike force to wipe out the inhabitants.  I'm not even sure at all 
that is the purpose of those from the freighter.  If they expected 
hostility, wouldn't any prudent course be to come armed and prepared to 
engage resistance.  I don't see the leap to thinking they were there to 
simply murder innocents.  The only ones who planted that notion are Ben
and 
Tom.  I find it amusing that so many will still take their word at face 
value.
