Crash similarities

I thought it was kind of neat to see Mike crash his vehicle, yet still
survive.   Then we see his eye opening up in the hospital.    

That whole scenario was almost identicle to  the jet crash scenario --
IE: Jack opening his eye, following his coming-to following the
"unsurvivable" jet crash on the island.

So then it makes me wonder: are the cir***stances that different?   We
like to think the whole shebang started with the crash of flight 815, on
the island.   ...  But maybe it didn't.  ...I still believe there's a
lot of "island" history that took place, even before the jet arrived on
the island.   ...Jon
