Dharka Logo Interpretations?

by tdciago <tdciago@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 25, 2008 at 12:04 PM

This is the Dharma logo from Halliwax's (Ben's) parka, which
persumably is for the Orchid station:

I can see how the swirling concentric circles might represent some
kind of vortex, but I'm wondering about the "thing" in the center. My
first thought is that it looked wormlike. It's also possible that
it's some distortion of the Swan logo, or of a Yin / Yang symbol, but
the connection between worm and wormhole keeps bringing me back to
that interpretation.

Is there possibly some connection to Jack's appendicitis? The
appendix is vermiform, which literally means worm-like.

And then there's this:
WIDMORE = DIE WORM

Other possibilities, from Lostpedia (
http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/The_Shape_of_Things_to_Come/Theories#New_Logo
):
<Begin quote>
The new logo may be the Orchid logo. It resembles a water tap
surrounded by long pipes signifying an irrigation system.
The new logo has to be from the Orchid Station because the Bedouins
mention there were no tracks around Ben, and that he must have fallen
from the sky, this shows that ben has simply appeared in Tunisia
because of time travel from the island, and that the time travel
staion (the Orchid station) is what sent Ben to Tunisia and that would
prove that the DHARMA logo on Ben's parka was, in fact the Orchid
station's Logo also explaining why Edgar Halowax is on the Parka
because Marvin Candle used this name as an alias in the Orchid
station's orientation video.
The new logo resembles the logo used in the 60's sci-fi series "Time
Tunnel", and the shape in the center of the spiral resembles the
profile of a human form reclining.

Time Tunnel logos:

Compare these logos to the illustration from "The Economist" magazine
that appeared with the article that began "Not all is lost" the same
week as the LOST episode "The Economist" aired:

And finally, a Dogon statue of a Nommo:

On Ben's secret hieroglyphic door, there is a symbol of a fish
followed by an Egyptian hieroglyph that can mean "teach lesson or
instruct." ( http://losteastereggs.blogspot.com/2008/04/bens-door.html
) This is interesting, because the Dogon believe that the amphibious
Nommos were teachers who instructed mankind.
