Jack had no reason to get high - he's still single-minded about 
getting off the Island and he knows that being under the influence 
will diminish those the chance of that happening.

In his mind, he has some kind of stomach flu and was simply taking 
anit-biotics to fight it. I'm sure we'll find out it's much more 
serious. (like the first little cough from Mimi in La Boheme)
