Sawyer went with Locke's group before any of the new people got to the
island. He knows "Red" because Locke's group stumbled upon her before
Daniel and Miles could get to her. Frank showed up after Jack's group
found Daniel and Miles and, by that time, Locke and Sawyer were
already headed to Othertown with "Red" in tow.
Kate and Sayid brought Miles along when they trekked to Othertown and,
in the process, swapped "Red" for Miles.
So, Sawyer knows Miles and "Red," but not Frank or Daniel. He does,
however, know they all came from the same place as the people who
killed Alex and the red****rts, so I expect he won't be in exactly the
best of spirits when he finally makes it back to the beach...
