I thought the opposite. I assumed that the reason Jack previously had
a problem with Kate and Aaron was that he'd taken the revelation (as
yet unseen on the show) that Claire was his half-sister very badly,
and Aaron was a constant reminder of the fact. I thought the change
of mind had come about due to him realising that he loved Kate, and
that he had to get past his issues over Aaron if he and Kate were ever
going to be together.
