yup, that's what the desmond/charlie episodes were supposed to teach
us.  whenever desmond saved him, a new death scenario was created for
charlie.  but what i wonder is, was desmond shown charlie's deaths
because he was supposed to delay it long enough to give charlie time
to die in the water and give his death some purpose?  if so, who was
behind this?  the island?
