Yes, the name connection may just be a fluke.
But after Michael disappears the second time, and the Oceanic 6 return,
with their story of total death and distruction of all BUT the 6,
(Without Michael...Momma knows someone is lying),
Michael's mother must be concerned and curious. It would seem natural for
her to pick up the phone and start calling survivors.
(You want your 10 dollars back...I want my Oceanic settlement check)
Kate's promise to Sawyer might not have been specific to Sawyer's personal
situation. He may have generally requested, "Find out how this happened"
or similar. Kate may have initiated the contacts to the families of the
dead survivors, and in the process, jeopardized the secret Jack so
strongly is trying to keep.
Kate's keeping "Sawyer secret" from Jack, may have been a cover story to
conceal the bigger issue of the "Island secret".
There are many possibilities....We need some confirmation of Michael's
mother's actual character name.
