We don't even know exactly what the healing properties of the island are.
I 
believe the only person who has miraculously healed from injuries is Locke

(Rose just thinks she's healed but doesn't know for sure). So Rose's claim

that people don't get sick on the island is her own belief that hasn't
been 
fully substantiated.
