I was always bothered by the lack of promotion for people who were
considered 'senior staff'.  But its a problem common to most TV shows,
a core of regulars that should really not be as involved at the level
they are, but if they werent then they would not be 'regulars'.
Ironically SF based shows are held to higher standards for ordinary
things like this because the audience is already being asked to
suspend believe on much of what goes on.

Lost has a similar perception problem
