Jack did comment on the fact that Juliet was shaving the area two
inches above where the incision was to be made.  She gave her usual
smirk and said she was "just cleaning the area."  Jack surely has done
many appendectomies himself, and would have known how much of the site
was usually shaved, so I assume there was something a bit unusual
about how much area Juliet was shaving.

I find it hard to believe that Bernard was involved in any
shenanigans, but Juliet did send him out to tell Kate that she could
come back, so there was a window of op****tunity during which Juliet
could have implanted something.  A tracking device to follow Jack's
progress from the island and mark its original coordinates?  I don't
know, but there is likely something more to the appendectomy than just
the idea that the Island was puni****ng the Man of Science.

I also wondered about Juliet's list of supplies, which they made a

=2E  I tried to see if there was some ROT-13 encoding with the first
letter of each supply, or a possible anagram, but I didn't find
anything.  Some of the words are indented, though.  Could there have
been a message for Daniel in there?  And why did Charlotte have to tag
along, other than for the purpose of Jin discovering that she speaks
Korean?  If the Losties suspected Daniel and Charlotte were up to no
good, they would want to separate them.

A little coincidence(?) about appendicitis is that the pain felt upon
