Yes, that's part of her being a woman of faith. She believes in the
island. Just like Locke.
I know devoutly religious people who believe that God will not allow
them to die of cancer--right up to the moment that they do die.
Whenever someone gets sick, his devoutly religious friends and relatives
pray for his recovery. Rarely, if ever, does anyone say "Maybe we ought
to check first to see if prayer has worked in the past before trying it
again." That's how faith is.
