I'm guessing Jacob is a ghost too. But yeah, how come Ben spent years
talking to Jacob and now Locke gets a smug stand-in?

Anyway, what about Hurley? He saw Christian in the cabin before, and
presumably also saw Jacob (he saw an eye, anyway). So it's not like
Jacob can only be seen by Ben's successor (unless that is going to be
Hurley, which I really doubt.)
