That wasn't on the show per se, it was on the Orchid Orientation video
which was made seperately and included on the Season 3 DVD Collection.

Not sure about the specifics, but the stranger this show gets, the
more I'm starting to buy into Jon's old theory (WITHOUT the "time
travel" element, thankyouverymuch) that the entire LOST series is
actually about one HUGE "course correction" the fictional LOST
universe is undergoing, perhaps to save it from some kind of eventual
destruction that DHARMA accidently started the path towards sometime
in the past. Not sure if that was "the incident" or something else...
But the very nature of this show suggests some kind of grand plan that
requires all sorts of bizarre stuff to happen, a lot of huge jumps in
logic, tons of coincidences, etc. We could either chalk that down to
some mastermind controlling everything or we could simply choose to
believe the universe is "course correcting" in ways that seem to our
logical minds to be "contrived."
RWG (but, hey, if it saves the world, I can take a bit of
contrivance :-)
