In that case, Locke's detective would have been in on the scam, since
he verified the DNA match.

Exactly.  I'm reasonably convinced that Locke's parents are Emily and
Cooper.  The whole "immaculate conception" thing was just Emily off
her meds.  And twin studies have shown that schizophrenia does have a
high level of genetic predisposition, so we should keep that in mind
where Locke is concerned, too...
