If it's not a flesh-and-blood, here-and-now, genuine Claire (and I'm
betting my "win" money on it being the real Claire), then my "place"
money is on "Claire" being another island manifestation in this scene.
And "she" is there in order to aid in the manipulation of Locke
somehow. All of which would raise the question: where's the real
Claire?
In short, I'm still not convinced that Ben has lost his touch, and I'm
still not convinced that he's not still pulling all of the
strings--with or without Jacob's help.
