I agree.
Since the helicopter pilot is vital to trans****ting Keamy's men to and
from the island, it makes sense that they would have chosen a military
pilot who would be perfectly willing to assist Keamy's attack on the
island without having to be coerced into it. And Faraday tried to shut
off the gas at Tempest Station--if the island was going to be torched
anyway, why would Abbadon bother?
Abbadon and his research team (with helicopter pilot) seems to have been
tasked by Widmore with the job of learning as much as possible about the
island's mysteries--before Keamy torches it on Widmore's orders.
Widmore probably kept his instructions to Keamy a secret even from
Abbadon, since he didn't need to know about them.
