Maybe I'm misremembering that scene, but I think they were shutting
off the gas so BEN wouldn't use it against them as he did during the
"purge."

You might just as well posit the other - Keamy didn't know anything
about why Abbadon chose the people he did, people who would seemingly
work AGAINST any plan to "torch the island."
