..So you think it's more sensible to think the island is like a giant
raft, that can be towed to a new location? Co'mon...

There are 2 possibilities... The bad guys could leave the island, and
end up 500 years in the past.. This could tie in with the 2nd.
possibility, as someone else stated: They change the magnetic field,
and the entrance is lost, which would create possibility no. 1.
...Thus, they could never return to the present.
Incidentally... It is interesting that Sayid left the freighter by
himself. ...I bet this is where he ends up in some weird time warp,
where he's commandeered by Ben (in that flash forward--(or back) we
saw, where he becomes the exterminator) Perhaps he ends up on the
island -- in the past -- when Ben was still in control, and could travel
the world.
One other point... I remember from the previous episode where Ben wakes
up in the Desert. ...He told Sayid he used Desmond's boat to get off the
island. Sayid should have been able to see through that BS, 'cause he
saw the multitude of pass****ts in Ben's hidden room. ...I'm sure Ben
didn't use Desmond's boat to acquie all of them. ...Jon
