That makes no sense if it's literally about the land mass.  The island
would have been in existence long beforehand and long afterward; if it
"moved in time", what difference would that make?

The island is a large geological time machine - and travelling through
time 
would also equate with travelling through space, no?  Does "Doctor Who"
get 
widespread airplay over there in the US?  Perhaps the "Lost" writers are
old 
"Doctor Who" fans pissed off the show's been revived and having to make
ever 
more bizarre twists on some island = (albeit -Earth? - limited) TARDIS 
riff...
