Not really... Desmond has interacted in the past, but nothing has
really changed. Even if he was to go back, he still couldn't marry
Penny. ...I would suggest that even now they can't be together.
Something will happen, to keep them apart. ...(The only way they can
ever be together, is if the island was made so it never really existed
....Or, they both decide not to leave the island... IE: thus turn out
to be the Adam and Eve.)
It is quite possible, that Ben was trying to cheat fate out of taking
his daughter... Perhaps he has lived this life before (as I've put
forth numerous times), so he sent Alex and company to the Tempest,
'cause he knew she would be shot at the barracks... But destiny
intervened, and she was brought back to the barracks, and shot there
anyways. ...Jon
