That they were all stuck in a time loop and we were only seeing
certain iterations was a favorite of mine originally invoked to
explain how they could survive the initial crash.
But there are so now many possible explanations, what with
magical realism, mind control, time travel, VGC, etc, that the only
possible interpretations now are they are all dead, or the producers
are into some kind of anti-narrative mode where the object is to kill
rational thought itself WRT what's going on.
