That makes more sense than if she died in the blast at the compound,
because if she did, Sawyer, Hurley and Ben sure couldn't tell. The
fact that Miles was staring at her in the jungle does make me wonder
if he sensed that she was going to die. Christian *could* have been
Death leading her away--except that I think Miles can tell the
difference between ghosts and the living, and he didn't say anything
to indicate Christian and Claire were not alive.
Your point about Christian being able to pet Vincent--those vignettes
are considered canon, are they? In any case, I've always suspected
Jacob or the island is animating Christian--do we have any indication
that is really Christian Shephard, and not a manifestation or
animation of his body? It just always seemed to me that Jack could
certainly tell whether or not his father was truly dead when he was
bringing back his corpse on the plane. So is the argument that the
island brought Christian back to life, or is it that the island is
using his body or his appearance to communicate with various Losties?
