The only wiggle room would be in the fact that Alex was under Keamy's
control and arguably could have been forced to make the claim under
duress.
Again, all I expect is for there to be *some* rational reason (hi, Rob!)
to consider doubting what a person is saying. And if that reason isn't
presented and the writers come back months or years later and just say
"Oh, he was lying," then I consider it cheating the audience. In this
case, if the bodies hadn't been found, I would have accepted a duress
argument if Alex or her mom had been resurrected down the road. But
there was nothing remotely like that when it came to Roger's claims of
his wife's death, IIRC.
But then again, since I can't even remember something Alex said a couple
of episodes ago, I shouldn't put too much stock in my own IIRCs...
