The doctor did know because the guy with the sat phone who received
the Morse code (I think it was Omar but not sure) told him. And yes,
the doctor just said "but I'm the  doctor" and they both dismissed it.
Whether he could have changed what happened if he had taken the
message seriously we don't know, but it's a good question.
