Speaking only for myself here, the issue isn't that the beliefs of
others are being dismissed.  Rather, it's the insensitive and rude and
arguably antagonistic way that the beliefs of others are being
dismissed.

But it doesn't really surprise me.  If my own anecdotal evidence is any
indication, militant non-believers are *much* more likely to mock the
faith of a believer than they would *ever* be to mock the beliefs of the
aforementioned bum who may or may not be mentally unstable.  I've always
just written it off to overcompensation coupled with a real need to
spend some time studying two millenniums' worth of apologetics and even
more years of Judaic history.
