That was my interpretation also, they had enough C4 in that room to
completely obliterate an armored battle****p let alone a small freighter.
I
think the writers want to make it clear that nobody anywhere on the
Freighter (or immediate vicinity) will survive if that device is
triggered.
Apparently there is a relay that must receive a continuous signal from
Kheamy's corresponding device strapped to his arm, or perhaps Kheamy can
remotely trigger the device if he stops receiving a signal? The First
Mate
(or whoever it was) mentioned a powerful radio transmission was blocking
his
sonar reception, so I guess Kheamy's device and the one aboard the
freighter
that actuates the bomb must both be transceivers?
My prediction is that someone on the freighter will attempt to play Bomb
Disposal expert and the device will go off. Sayid would have been a good
candidate to disarm the bomb, with his experience of electronics,
electrical
circuits, and probable explosives knowledge from working in MI. Daniel
would have been the 2nd best choice, with his doctoral level knowledge of
Physical Sciences, he probably would have been easily able to decipher the
bomb components and circuitry. Unfortunately, neither is present, Just
Desmond, Jin, and Michael; one, two, or all three are going to try to be a
hero, everything depends on how sophisticated a bomb Kheamy employed and
what sort of redundancies it may have?
