On page 98 of "Black Comddians On Black Comedy" by Darrl Littleton we
find out that Timmie stated out as a child performer in Vaudville in
the 1930s. He was the first black comedian in prime time television.
He appeared on the show Surgarhiil Times in 194p. Quoting from the
book:'Rogers stuck to the guns and armed with his catch
phrase"oh...yeah" uttered after about evey punchline,it wasn't long
before he changed the sterrotypical image of the way black comedians
tradionally performed. On the next page of the book we find that
Georgr Kirby,the comic mentioened by Cj,was as I said known for his
impersonations. He died in Las vegas in 1993,age 71.
