Well boys and girls one guilty pleasure of mine is to watch reruns of
various Poker touneyments on ESPN Classic very early in the morning.
Now just a few days ago the above mentioned cable network pklayed a
rerun of the 2004 US Poker Chamionship(America's number 3 Poker
event. Nowwwwwwwww the abo ve mentioned Huck Seed was delt 7,10, a
hand, which very seldome leads to glory. His Opponent was delt pocket
Queens, a hand which very often (but not always) leads to a life of
obscene opulence.
I can't remember all the cars which were delt face up but let's just
say that Huckboy didn't improve his hand and his opponent, received
another Queen on the river.
Huck tried to bluff his way to victory but failed to do so because:
1. There were no 3 suited community cards so his opponent knew Huck
didn't have a Flush.
2. There were no Aces or Kings face up so his opponent knew that a
better set(3 cards of the same rank) was impossible.
3.The cards facing face didn't allow for a straight.
His opponent accepted Huck's all in bet and huck ended up leaving the
game ,heading for either the bus or the buffet table.
One of the glories of Texas Holdem is that it provieds partial
imformation to the players which may or may not be deceptive and in
some cases makes certain bluffs more credible. However,in this case, the
cards did indeed provide a true picture of the weakness of Huck's hand.
