Yes, I believe you're right. It was created by Fred Barron, who amongst
other things wrote for The Larry Sanders Show and executive produced
Seinfeld.

My Family turned out to be quite a good show, IMHO. It has been quite
successful and regularly picks up decent audiences. Given the near death
of the British sitcom, it's quite a rare find amongst the dross. I
wouldn't say it's as good as Nigel says, but it's a very decent
offering.

Heh. The BBC try to sell anything they can, even if it later turns out
they don't own it.
