Folks,
I got a hold of this week's TV Guide Returning Favorites issue, and they
did
elude to one other major and somewhat disturbing event to unfold. It
appears that, as the article says "they can now explore more of the (sic)
pitfalls of teendom", one thing will be a "typical rite of passage" where
Malcolm gets drunk.
I wonder how they will, or better yet should, handle this. First off I
don't think they should write it off as mere "typical teen behavior". The
last thing we need is to have the message echoed on national TV that
drinking is or should be normal for teens. Yes, some teens do - but still
it shouldn't be rubberstamped by a character played by one of the most
charismatic figures of the teen set.
How do you think the episode should, could, or will play - or might play
better? The obvious answer is to have H&L catch him, go off, lecture, and
grounds him forever (again). Yet that may not happen, as noted before
that
is the obvious answer - MITM usually goes a step beyond that. What
imaginative, unique way can this be played to make all the sides even out?
Thoughts welcome.
