I think I tend to look at Lois as half way between Ida and a normal
person. With that kind of upbringing, it is a wonder Lois is as
balanced as she is!

I did like the scene in 'The Grandparents' where Lois and Malcolm are
talking about parents. Lois avoids answering 'Do you like your
parents' with the reply 'you're pretty much stuck with who you get'.
Malcolm agrees; 'I know'. I was never quite sure how to interpret the
look on Lois's face when Malcolm says that. It isn't like she is
angry, but she clearly recognizes Malcolm is saying that about her.

I do think she has a better relation****p with her kids than her
parents had with her. That they stand a chance of being better parents
than she is.

Then again I do remember the line, I don't recall the epsiode, Malcolm
is talking about Lois making him do things he doesn't want to. He
starts the line 'I tell you one thing, when I have kids...' as if to
say he's going to be different, but he completes the line after a
pause to ring a doorbell, 'they're really gonna suffer'.
