I don't really think so. MITM never actually shone at the Emmys anyway,
this year didn't stand out one way or the other. Though if they do run
with
this whole "typical teen angst" premise and turn into a cookie cutter
comedy
and nods decline next year, that will certainly tell the tale.
Plus, over the last few years I have also noticed that awards shows in
general tend to be less about celebrating achievement and excellence and
more about reflecting the collective entertainment ego. That's why awards
shows seem to be almost a dime a dozen these days (the "Reality Show
Awards??? Yes they're coming and NO I did not make that one up.) If you
look at the majors - the Grammys, the Emmys, the Oscars - it's always the
same old six and seven when you look at the names that pop up. And, it
also
seems like just making an onstage appearance at an awards show - nominated
or not - is worth as much or more than winning. Especially when what
dress
you're wearing is a bigger talk than who won.
