Hrm. I guess that's true to a certain extent, but, take shows like Home
Improvement, or Roseanne, where even the kids in that do grow up, go
through the various schooling, colleges, heck, even jobs.
I would hazard a guess, that the show could keep going for many years if
Malcolm maybe goes to college, Reese could end up in Military school,
Francis could find a job closer to home maybe... there's still a lot the
producers could mess around with. Following Malcolm into Adulthood with
his first job and a career I think though would be taxing on the show...
although, by that point they could have got through another few
seasons... And who knows, with some clever plot twists, you could even
have Malcolm working at the same company as his father... You know how
neurotic that family is, why should Malcolm actually leave home? Too
many unresolved issues.
Or Malcolm could get married, have a child of his own, and keep
returning almost like Francis does to either sort out issues and prove
that he's a good parent. Soo many possibilities. I mean, the show's
called Malcolm in the Middle. Originally it was Malcolm centric, but as
time went on, the other characters have become very much more im****tant.
So in the future, they might need some drastic changes, but it could
be possible to continue. Whether we'd want to watch I dont know.

As I say though, in Roseanne, Becky, Darlene, DJ, they all grew up too.
But I would agree, in a few years, to keep the show going, they'd have
to maybe do a spin off or something.

Of course, that could also become a plot twist.... Dewey becomes hideous
and the spawn of Satan. it would be something interesting to throw into
the show. I see it as an op****tunity!
